My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh Edgar, Mr. Personality, our own very special November 2025 Thrift Shop Employee of the Month… Where do I start?

Edgar is a very special kitty with a somewhat complicated history. In the right environment, Edgar is 100% certifiable best friend material. His current foster dad reports that Edgar is a happy and affectionate little guy who cuddles with him in the evenings and follows him around during the day. Edgar is always nearby and likes to be a part of whatever his human is up to! Edgar also loves comfy beds and cat towers, especially if they happen to be near a window! Overall he’s a very loving, content, and chill guy.

However, Edgar has not always been this chill. He *really* does not get along with other cats, and *must* be the only cat in the home. Additionally, he is not a good fit for a household with any other pets or small children, as Edgar can become territorial and overstimulated in a busy environment. He can also become overstimulated or fearful if a play session becomes too intense or energetic for his taste. Edgar has very strong boundaries, and he will assert them in these situations!

Because of this, we really want to make sure that we find the right fit for Edgar. He needs a calm, quiet home with cat savvy adult(s) who have some experience with cats with a, shall we say, “strong personality”. We know you’re out there! If his current foster situation is any indication, you will have a new best friend cuddle companion once Edgar feels comfortable in your home.

Edgar is approximately four years old. All cats are up-to-date on age/weight appropriate vaccines, exams, FIV/FeLV tested (negative), flea treated, dewormed, spayed/neutered and microchipped. If not completed at the time of adoption, any remaining initial vetting will be covered by the rescue.

Adoption Guidelines:
- Before scheduling a meet-and-greet with one of our adoptable cats or dogs, you must complete an application and interview with an adoption team member.
- You must be 21 years or older.
- All animals in your home must be up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed / neutered.
- If you rent, we will need a copy of your lease stating the landlord permits pets along with the landlord’s contact information.
- We do not place animals as gifts for others.
- Adopted animals must be kept as indoor companions.

We aim to provide high quality care for the well-being of rescued cats and dogs until they are placed in forever homes. All animals are regularly vet checked, fully vaccinated, spayed / neutered and microchipped. They are routinely treated for fleas and worms as well as any medical issues.

Except for a limited number of cats fostered at our headquarters, our adoptable animals are cared for in loving volunteer foster homes. We get to know the pets’ personalities and needs very well, striving to make the best possible match for both animals and adopters.
