My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rainbow, an elegant lovebird looking for an engaging home that can keep her big bird brain busy! She`s the kind of bird who will happily sit on your shoulder for company and bob her head when she sees you nearby! She`s been known to settle nicely, and she loves sleeping up high and enrichment toys that allow her to dig, shred and express natural foraging behaviour. Parrots are highly intelligent, social animals and Rainbow has given us signs that suggest she`d be happiest with another lovebird she can cuddle, preen and chat with. She may also be able to thrive as a single bird in an experienced parrot home that can give her plenty of attention and enrichment. If this winsome face has caught your eye (or your resident lovebird`s eye) then don`t hesitate to come meet Rainbow!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
