Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Max! This bright young guy is ready to start fresh with a family who can give him the structure and positive guidance he needs. Max is an active dog who loves to move, sniff, explore, and be part of the action!
Max can get a bit excited when heading out for adventures, he`s curious about everything and loves using his nose! With treats and plenty of gentle encouragement, he settles nicely and shows just how smart he is. He already offers a beautiful sit on his own, takes treats softly, and responds well to praise (he LOVES being told he`s a good boy!). He`s very food-motivated, which will make continued positive reinforcement training both fun and effective!
He enjoys enrichment and does well being harnessed when paired with scattered treats to focus on. He can be a bit sensitive around head handling and may move away from pets, so he`ll do best with a family who will respect his space and build trust at his own pace. With consistency and force-free training methods, he has so much potential to grow into a confident, well-mannered companion! He is also a very energetic guy who will need regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep him happy.
If you`re looking for a smart, spirited dog who`s eager to learn and ready for a second chance, Max is your guy!
Max is: - Open to kids (he has no known history, interactions should be supervised!). - Open to cats (has lived with cats before, interactions should be supervised). - Open to dogs with intros!

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.
Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.
Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.
Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.
Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.
Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
