Barb was a rescue. I spotted an ad on Craigslist for a Shiba Inu and pictured was a filthy puppy in a plastic bin. We paid for her in a CVS parking lot and brought her home, washed her up and took her to the vet. We already had two Shiba Inus. She’s always struggled with food protection, becomes extremely distressed in a crate, and will become alarmed if picked up around other dogs.
She always had a tense relationship with our second Shiba, a girl. However, in 2024 when our baby was born and our senior boy Shiba died at 14 yrs old— within two month’s time— she and the second one cannot get along. Moreover, she struggles to handle our toddler having food around her without trying to take it. Barb is gentle with the baby— even when she slyly grabs her food. She’s also really struggled with chewing the baby’s things. She has not been a chewer outside of that.
Barb gets along with our parent’s dogs. However, she is not friendly toward other dogs when on a walk. Yet, she’s easy to walk.
