My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Scout is almost 3 yrs old, neutered male Border Collie weighing 38 lbs. Scout is a wonderful, happy, bouncy little boy who’s eager for human interaction. His original parents could no longer take care of him due to health issues, and his new home cannot provide him the personal attention he needs to thrive.
He lives with dogs smaller and larger than he and gets along very well with all, even the cats. He also lives with chickens which he doesn’t chase…except the first time he saw them! During food time, he waits until he’s invited in to eat and does so around the other dogs without issue. While I can put my hand in his food while he eats, he bares his teeth at the other dogs if they approach. He’s been around toddlers, though he was wary. We feel he would do best in a home with older children or no children.
Scout is up for adoption because we want to improve his life. Beyond jumping and getting in your face when you bend over he has no behavior issues. He’s a really sweet dog who will certainly flourish with proper guidance and direction: he’s SUPER eager to please and strongly desires to bond.
Scout’s ideal home would be active and engaging to fulfill his natural BC traits to have a job and follow direction from his person: it would be wonderful for him to use his natural instincts to work on a farm. He needs a job and he needs more structure. We need to find him HIS person.
He loves to swim in the pond in the summer and to have snow shoveled on him in the winter. He also loves to be groomed, and allows us to use trimmers on his fur and handle his paws. And to be picked up and held like a baby that’s his favorite.
Warning: he has a history of running after cars so applicants must be able to address this.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a “free” animal. ALL animals need some kind of medical attention at some point in their lives. Our adoption fee for dogs includes spay/neuter surgery, Rabies vaccine, Distemper vaccine, Bordatella vaccine, precautionary deworming, microchip with registration, flea treatment (if necessary), heartworm test (if necessary), and a heartworm preventative. Cats receive spay/neuter surgery, Rabies vaccine, FVRCP vaccine, FeLV/FIV test, precautionary deworming, flea treatment (if necessary). Depending on which vet is used, our animals’ medical needs can cost upwards of $500, just for the procedures listed above. Other animals may require dental care, prescription medications or diets, or long-term intensive nursing.

Here at Potters Angels Rescue, we strive to adopt our animals out to the best matches possible for them. This means that an animal other than the one who initially catches your eye may be a better fit for your home and lifestyle.

Our policy is to adopt to people that are 21 years of age or older. This is not a first come/first served procedure as we take great care in matching our dogs to prospective homes. Please be aware that a representative will contact you as soon as possible when you either make an inquiry or complete an application, however ‘as soon as possible’ does not mean immediately nor an exact amount of time as we are volunteers. It means just that- as soon as we possibly can.

After the references have been checked on your application, you can expect a call from one of our representatives as soon as we can. This is in order to address any concerns regarding your application and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have thought of since completing the application. After this a home visit will be scheduled with a representative and the adopter. It is required that and everyone in the household be present including the 4 legged members. If possible this will also be when the potential adopter meets the dog; although occasionally due to distance that will require a second meeting.

If you have found a specific animal you are interested in, please list the animal on the application. If you have questions about a specific animal, please send us an e-mail at info@pottersangelsrescue.org. We will then have the animal’s foster parent get in contact with you.

We are emotionally tied to the animals we rescue and remain committed to the animals and their adoptive families for their life. If there is a problem in keeping the adopted animal at any time during their life, we require that the animal come back to us for re-homing. Additionally, if there are problems or concerns with the health or well being of an animal, we are there to help the adoptive family with the support they require.

Go meet their pets

Our foster pets reside in loving foster homes before they are adopted. On occasion we have special events in which you can meet some of them.

More about this rescue

Potter's Angels Rescue (PAR) is a New England- foster based dog rescue that is dedicated to finding loving forever homes for unwanted or neglected animals.

We help families who can no longer care for their pets, support local animal control, and respond to neglect and cruelty cases. All animals are spayed/neutered (if age appropriate), vaccinated, and ready for a fresh start.

Our mission is simple: every animal deserves a change to have a safe and loving home for life.
