My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Howard - Your Personal Sunshine in Cat Form

Howard is a 9-month-old fluffy orange-and-white heartthrob with a personality as bright as his coat. This joyful boy wakes up every day like it's the best day ever - and he's determined to make sure it's the best day for you, too.

Curious? Absolutely. If there's a crinkly bag, a mysterious cupboard, or a new cardboard box in the house, Howard is already on the case. He approaches life with wide-eyed wonder and a little bounce in his step, like everything is a delightful surprise.

Howard will need an indoor-only home where he can stay safe and continue his happy adventures. With enrichment, cozy climbing spots, and lots of interaction, he'll truly thrive. He loves being part of the action and will happily supervise your daily tasks before curling up nearby to recharge.

Important Note: Howard is currently awaiting his neuter surgery, so he is looking for a foster-to-adopt home in the Nanaimo area. This means you can welcome him into your home now, love on him, and finalize the adoption once his surgery is complete. It's the perfect way to start your happily-ever-after a little early.

If your home could use a little extra fluff, curiosity, and everyday joy, Howard is ready to brighten it - permanently.

The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort
