My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Opal is looking for a job! Working cats are wary of people, but they make excellent pest-control partners for barns, wineries, workshops, warehouses, and even private homes! Our Working Cat Program places cats who prefer minimal human interaction into safe, supportive environments where they can thrive while helping control rodents. Adopters must provide: • A secure structure that offers protection from the elements and predators • Access to natural light • Fresh food and water every day • A soft, dry, warm place for the cat to sleep These cats may not want cuddles, but they do want a safe home—and they’ll repay you by keeping unwanted pests in check.

The Seattle Animal Shelter is committed to reducing length of stay for all of our shelter pets! Some pets qualify for FREE or reduced adoption fees, please inquire with our Animal Care team to learn more.

Pets are complex beings and prior to adoption, interested adopters will be counseled by a staff member to discuss the specific needs for each animal. This will include reviewing all known medical and behavior information.
** Please note that some animals will receive numerous inquiries, sometimes more than we can process. We appreciate you`re understanding and patience.
