My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nutcracker is a big, handsome tabby boy who came to the shelter in mid-December, and his journey has been one of quiet growth and learning to trust. When he first arrived, he was very scared and nervous, unsure of the world around him. With time, patience, and gentle care, Nutcracker has begun to show who he really is.

He’s a complex guy who doesn’t always know how to communicate when he wants attention—or when he’s had enough. Because of that, he can sometimes be unpredictable and may use his teeth or claws to express himself. But once Nutcracker trusts you, he truly shines. He’ll sit and meow for your attention, follow you around the room, and ask for love in his own earnest way.

Nutcracker loves to stalk and observe, and his natural hunting instincts are strong. Because of this, the staff believes he would thrive best as a barn cat, where he can put those skills to good use while still enjoying human companionship on his terms. Due to his unpredictability, he does not do well with other cats and would need to be the only feline in his space.

Nutcracker will come neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped.

If you’re someone who understands cats with big personalities and are looking for a working companion who can grow a special bond with you, Nutcracker may be the perfect fit.

More about this shelter

Animals Are Our Mission

Over 1,100 animals pass through our doors every year. Did you know that the average cost to get our animals ready to be adoptable is roughly $350 per animal? That is because we require our adoptables to be spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated before adopting out.

Population control and disease management are issues in our community that we are working hard to resolve. Your donations help ensure we can continue our mission.

We have an amazing team of hard working staff caring for our animals 7 days a week. They are supported by a group of engaged board members that are focused on bettering our organization.
