Here's what the humans have to say about me:
History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own!
Ginger came into rescue already carrying a precious surprise — she arrived pregnant and soon gave birth to three beautiful puppies while in foster care. From the very beginning, she has been an exceptionally devoted, gentle, and attentive mama, watching over her babies with care and love.
A Note from the Foster: 🐻❄️ Meet Nanuq ❄️🐻
The Polar Bear Pup with a Big Heart
Nanuq is part of the Three Little Bears litter, and he earned his name honestly. From the day he was born, he looked just like a tiny polar bear cub, with his fluffy coat and solid build. True to his name, he also came into the world with a ravenous appetite and an intense dedication to nursing, quickly making it clear that he was going to be the biggest of the bunch.
While we do not know the identity of the father, it is clear that he was larger than mama Ginger. Based on Nanuq’s size, structure, and temperament, we suspect the father may have been a larger breed, possibly a lab mix. Nanuq is currently the largest of the three puppies and continues to grow steadily.
Nanuq is incredibly people-oriented and thrives on connection. He loves engaging with the humans around him and seeks out affection with enthusiasm. He is playful, confident, and brave, always ready to explore something new. New experiences do not faze him. Instead, he approaches the world with curiosity and joy.
He has been especially delighted by his first experiences with snow. Nanuq did not hesitate to jump into deeper snow, romping around and clearly finding it all very fun. His adventurous spirit shines through in moments like these.
Despite his confident nature, Nanuq is also a cuddler. He loves giving kisses and enjoys snuggling up with his people. He has been wonderful with the resident dogs in his foster home and has done beautifully with kids of all ages. His gentle confidence and social nature make him a puppy who fits easily into family life.
At 6 weeks old, Nanuq weighs just under 8 pounds. Based on his current growth and proportions, we expect him to be a medium-sized dog, likely in the 30 to 50 pound range when fully grown.
Nanuq is shaping up to be an incredible family dog. He is playful, confident, affectionate, and eager to be part of whatever his people are doing. If you are looking for a puppy with a big heart, a brave spirit, and plenty of love to give, Nanuq may be your perfect match..
