-----------------------------------
Background
Danbi was rescued from a city pound in Buan, Korea, in the summer of 2025. After her rescue, she stayed in a foster home while completing her heartworm treatment. She handled the treatment well and is now healthy. Danbi then moved to our partner boarding house, where she lived with other dogs until she left Korea. Currently, she lives in a foster home in Surrey, BC. She is a Maltipoo.
Personality and Socialization
Danbi is a gentle, sweet, and friendly girl. She loves people and enjoys being close to them. She is affectionate and happy to receive attention, and she warms up easily to new faces. Danbi has a calm and soft nature that makes her a comforting presence to be around.
With other dogs, Danbi is sociable and polite. She especially enjoys the company of gentle, friendly dogs and prefers calm play over rough or hyper energy. She has never been in a fight and naturally avoids conflict, choosing peace whenever she can.
Danbi has not lived with cats or young children, but with slow and thoughtful introductions, she would likely do fine in a calm and patient home.
Behaviour
Danbi is a lovely and easygoing girl. She is comfortable in the car and behaves well during baths and vet visits. She has shown no signs of separation anxiety and is not destructive. When she lived in a foster home, she stayed with another dog and remained relaxed.
She walks well on a leash and also uses pee pads indoors. Danbi is smart and learns quickly. She can feel nervous if she is suddenly picked up, and unfamiliar places may make her a bit unsure at first. With gentle handling, reassurance, and time, she settles in and gains confidence.
Health and Diet
When Danbi was rescued, she tested positive for heartworm. She has since completed her full treatment and is now healthy and ready to start her new life. Danbi is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. She receives monthly parasite prevention, has no known allergies, and eats dry kibble well.
Ideal Home
Danbi would do best in a calm and loving home. She would be a wonderful companion for someone who works from home, a senior, or a quiet household. She does not ask for much, just a peaceful space, gentle care, and someone to love. Having another friendly dog in the home would be a lovely bonus for her.
Danbi is a soft soul who is ready to bloom in the right home. She is waiting patiently for the family who will give her the love and security she deserves.

Free Korean Dogs is a registered charity founded in 2015 with the mission to rescue, rehabilitate and find forever-loving homes for dogs saved from the Korean dog meat trade.
We divide our mission across three basic pillars: RESCUE, ADOPT, and ENGAGE.
Since 2015, we’ve made huge advances in all three areas, shutting down three dog meat farm operations, facilitating the adoption of 1,800 rescue dogs, and launching Freedom Walk, our annual event to raise public awareness about the Korean dog meat trade:
RESCUE
Our organization has made significant strides in rescuing dogs from the dog meat trade, high-kill shelters and other high-risk conditions in Korea. We shut down dog meat farms and liberated over 500 dogs from unbearable suffering and despair.
ADOPT
Through our unwavering commitment, we have found forever-loving homes for more than 1,800 dogs rescued from brutal circumstances. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to rehabilitate these animals and find them a new life filled with love and care.
ENGAGE
Our mission extends beyond rescue and adoption; we are dedicated to building a compassionate community. Through educational campaigns and events, we engage with individuals and organizations to create a cultural shift from cruelty to compassion.
