My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Philadoptables will donate $300 to any rescue that may pull!**
**$365 in pledges to any rescue that may pull!**

Arlingdale ACCT-A-243186 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Arlingdale must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or EXPERIENCED ADOPTER by THURSDAY, February 19th at 10AM. Should Arlingdale's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal.

Arlingdale is a dashing, very large guy who was brought to ACCT by a dedicated community cat caretaker when they noticed he showed up to a colony with an injury. Luckily for Arlingdale, the injury to his ear is not severe, and already has healthy scabbing. Arlington is a bit less lucky, however, with regard to his general health.

Arlingdale tested positive for both FIV and FeLV, and has some chemosis of the conjunctiva, which, in addition to his massive cheeks, makes his face look extra squishable. Arlingdale will need ongoing medical management for his FIV and FeLV, and the longer he stays in the shelter, the greater his risk of getting sick, which he will have more difficulty recovering from than the average cat.

Behavior Notes

Arlingdale's finder noted that "he is “friendly, shy and quiet. He hasn’t scratched or bitten anyone, and is very sweet."

2/15 a staff member said, “I went to say hello to Arlingdale and he hissed at me from atop his feral den. He stayed in that corner but his breathing rate did increase. He allowed me to pet the top of his head with my walkie, but would hiss at my hand anytime it came close.”

However, it seems that Arlingdale is quick to adjust to his surroundings. On 2/16, he allowed full-body handling, and eagerly jumped out of his kennel to explore. He especially loves ear scratches, but we suspect that has more to do with them being itchy. In the videos below, Arlingdale can be seen trying to roam around the surgery suite, very unafriad of the vocal dogs and other cats in the room. Despite his easygoing nature, Arlingdale will need to go to a home either with no other cats, or cats who are also positive for FeLV, as it is a disease that can be spread from cat to cat.

Arlingdale is, despite his mysterious past, a very lucky guy. His conditions can make outside life an uphill battle--at best, and a slow decline at worst. Arlingdale's finder snagged him before clinical symptoms could really impact his quality of life, and we think he will really enjoy indoor life from here on out.
