My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Howard.

I’m not loud about what I’ve been through. I carry it quietly. There were days that felt long and nights that felt even longer. I learned how to survive before I ever learned how to just be a dog.

I’m still figuring things out. Grass under my feet. Sunlight on my back. The sound of birds. The feeling of someone reaching toward me with kindness instead of chaos. It’s all new, but I’m trying. I really am.

What I want isn’t complicated.

I want a home where I don’t have to wonder if I’ll still be there tomorrow.
I want a couch that smells like my people.
I want to watch out the window and guard the house like it’s my job.
I want to learn the rules and be proud when I get them right.

I’m not asking for perfect. I don’t need constant attention. I’m okay with work days. I’m okay with quiet evenings. I’m okay if life gets busy sometimes. I just need to know I won’t be left behind again.

Maybe you’re thinking, “Not yet.”
Maybe you’re waiting for the right time.

But I’ve been waiting a long time already.

If you’ve read this far, maybe you’re my person. Maybe you’re the one who sees past the past and into the dog I’m becoming.

I’m ready to belong.
I’m ready to come home.
