My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Have you ever wanted a lab mix that was actually the size of a lap dog? Or a dog with a tail curlier than an Arby’s curly fry? If so, Frisco might be the little man for you!

Not much is known about Frisco’s life before coming to the shelter, but he found himself in a shelter in San Benito, Texas hoping someone would take him home. Project Hope scooped up this cutie and got him into a foster home in Texas before he made his way to Michigan.

Frisco is an extremely sweet and affectionate boy who loves to be cuddled up next to you whenever possible. Although he is small and young, he is very brave and curious. Frisco is always eager to try new things even when he is feeling a bit timid, especially when he has the encouragement of either treats or confident dogs to help him along the way. You can often find him curled up in the sun porch basking in the sun, on the couch or dog bed cuddled up, or sniffing around the yard. His foster family loves how quiet and calm he is but also his never-ending enthusiasm to enjoy each day.

Frisco is also an intelligent boy who already knows sit, wait, and come; is fully crate trained and potty trained; and walks extremely well on a leash. He currently lives with 2 other foster siblings, one who is similar to his size and a larger dog. His favorite thing is when they all get the zoomies and chase each other around the yard. Although his current Michigan foster does not have cats, Frisco has done well with cats when he was with his Texas foster.

Frisco is 33 pounds and about 9 months old and will be an amazing addition to someone’s family.

If you have any questions or concerns about him, please email us at projecthoperescue@gmail.com. To apply to adopt, please visit our website at www.projecthoperescue.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require that the interested adopter come to meet the dog and then fill out an adoption application. We will review the application and then pass on to the dog's foster family (if applicable). We then contact the potential adopter's vet and we will also do a home visit. If all goes well, the adopter signs our adoption contract stating that, among other things, the dog will receive regular vet care and must be returned to us if things do not work out.

More about this rescue

We focus primarily on rescuing senior and special needs dogs in kill facilities. We are located on 30 acres of land in rural southern Michigan. We are a care-for-life facility, so any dog that does not or that we deem cannot be adopted will live with us for the rest of his/her life. Because we rescue the dogs that are not in high demand, it normally takes our dogs longer to find that perfect family. We believe that it takes a special family to adopt our special dogs.
