This helps Waldo's Rescue Pen with pet care costs.
Hi! I'm Evelyn, but everyone calls me Evie!
I'm an easygoing young girl with puppy-like playfulness but professionall manners. My favorite pastime is chewing (ideally on beef collagen sticks but occassionally shoes and the like, if they are left undefended). I am fine sleeping on my own for several hours at a time and at night. I am learning to sit, stay, and fetch. As well as "place" to direct me to my pre-meal spot. I am fine with the occassional bath, get along great with strangers and other dogs. I am fine just spending time next to you while you work, but also going outside to run around and play. I absolutely love belly rubs, there is no time of day that I would not rollover and melt into you for a belly rub.
Personality & Characteristics:
- Sweety, loves hugs and attention. Melts into people for pets and cuddles. Gives gentle licks and head-nuzzles
- Gentle, low-reactivity, cool calm and collected even in the busy streets of Brooklyn.
- Shy at times, othertimes very excitable. Easily calmed with treats and attention.
- Big bald spot! Still working on determining if it is a skin rash, a bed sore, or nervous "itch/lick" spot. Doesn't bother her, she doesn't seem irritated by it at all.
- Has had her first estrus cycle so likely approaching a good time for spaying if that is desired. She has had her first hormonal release in other words.
- Really truly loves chewing. It's amazing she can spend all day chewing on some bully stick, then a cheek chew, then a yak cheese.
My foster dog is good with: Dogs but have not yet seen her interact with cats or small chidlren much.
My foster dog is: House trained (frequent urinator), getting comfortable with her crate (not 100% crate trained and can get anxious while inside and unable to get out)
3 Keywords for your pup: Affectionate, Playful, Gentle
Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 6-8 depending on the time of day. Often a 7;
Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Moans or yips along with sirens at times. Occassionally quietly barks in her dreams (and it's adorable). Overall, quite quiet.
Walking Manners: Intensely motivated to sniff every inch of the sidewalk but good at walking most the time. Been working with a command "fast walk" to get her to feel motivated to walk without her nose to the ground/stopping every few inches to see if that next pebble is in fact a piece of food.
Appetite: Typical appetite. Two meals a day, with some portion of her daily calories spent on treats for training, motivating her to go up and down stairs (she is nervous of stairs at times, and other times she goes up and down them without a second thought).
Favorite Things: Chewing, canned pumpkin, chewing, pets, cuddles, hugs, belly rubs, attention, and oh yeah- chewing.
Commands/Tricks: Sit - 80%, Fetch - 40%, Lay down - 50%, Fast walk - 50%, "Leave it" - 30%, "Place" - 70%. Practicing all the time!
ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at WaldosRescue.org and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog. We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs.
Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States and Korea.
