Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Zara is a 6-7 month old mixed breed (we do not know what she is mixed with and will not guess) weighing in at 25 lbs. right now. She still has a little growing left to do – How much is anyone’s guess. She can be a bit timid and jumpy when she encounters new things but with patience and reassurance, she quickly starts to feel more comfortable. Zara has done pretty well with other dogs, but because of her timidness needs a slower introduction. Then all she wants to do is play! Cats may not be the best match for her, as she tends to want to play a bit to rough. She has not met any children while in our care so we aren’t sure how she would do in a home with them. It is best to bring them to meet her ahead of time. Once Zara warms up, she never stops moving! She’s bouncy, playful, and full of energy. She absolutely loves to run, play and be actively engaged with her people. An active home ready to help her burn off that puppy energy would be ideal. She needs work on basic obedience and manners, as well as some guidance with mild food possessive behaviors. With consistency, structure, and clear rules, these behaviors are very manageable and she is eager to learn. Zara is a fun, energetic pup waiting for her next adventure.

Here at the Red Desert Humane Society we strive to place pets in the best homes possible. We ask that you fill out an adoption application prior to meeting our animals. One can be emailed to you.
Once we receive your application we will review your application. During this process we will make calls to Landlords (if applicable). As well as your veterinarian that has provided care for your past or present pets.
We ask that you provide photos of your current residence where the dog will be living.
Once this is complete we ask that your bring your current animals (if any) to the shelter to meet your potential new pet as to prevent any possible problems once you get home.
If all of this goes well and you are approved we will then have you sign our adoption contract as well as pay the adoption fee.
Please call for our adoption fees or any other information.

More about this shelter
The Red Desert Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the placement of previously homeless animals in new, loving environments.
We alter and vaccinate all animals prior to placement, and screen all applicants to ensure a lifelong match between people and pets. We also educate the community about the importance of spaying and neutering pets, proper pet care, and animal welfare. We place dogs and cats in loving, forever homes!
