Matilda is a silly little girl with an adorable underbite and a whole lot of personality packed into a small body. She’s full of fun and always ready to make you laugh! Matilda loves toys and is great at entertaining herself, but she truly shines when she has friends to play with. She would do best in a home with another dog of similar size and energy to wrestle, romp, and enjoy life with.
Matilda does well with routine and is kennel trained and house trained. She is dog friendly and also does well around cats—she politely avoids them when they’ve made it clear they’re not interested.
Matilda has a playful, mouthy play style with lots of gentle nibbles, so she’ll thrive with a family that understands puppy-like play and can continue guiding her manners. We set up an initial phone interview to talk about the dog, the application process, and answer your questions!

Meet the Pet
We set up a meet and greet for your family (including your current pets) to meet the dog.

Sign Adoption Contract
Once we all decid this dog is the right fit, sign the online contract and pay your adoption fee online! Then you've got yourself a dog!

Our adoption process is thorough in order to ensure dogs go to the best possible home. We try and make it as streamlined as possible, and are often able to set up meet and greets with approved applications within 2-4 days. We often get multiple applications for each dog, and choose applicants based off the best possible fit for each dog.

Our dogs are all in foster homes. Visits are by appointment only. You get in touch with us, we get in touch with the foster homes, and schedule a time and place to meet.

Big Paws of the Ozarks is a foster-based dog rescue in Northwest Arkansas. We aim to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in our local community. We specialize in large breed dogs (over 40 pounds) but do get the occasional small paw in rescue too! We work closely with shelters and other rescues in our community to target and save dogs who are at risk of euthanasia or have found themselves falling between the cracks of our animal rescue community.
