My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Oakley! I am a 2 year old adorable low riding Dachshund mix! What else is in me? We aren't totally sure but maybe a touch of Collie. I am just a little over 30 lbs and I am about 12 inches high from shoulder to floor. I am in need of a home. My current home can no longer meet my needs and I am ready to meet my next and final loving family! I am an incredible catch. I am housebroken and crate trained. When left alone for a bit of time, I am trustworthy and just hang out! I am relaxed and pretty chill while my humans go do their thing for a bit. I am medium energy and just need a couple of nice strolls per day and a little playtime. I really enjoy going on walks; I always walk on the right side - that's my side. I love people and like to say hi to all of them; I think all of them should be my friend. I am good with dogs outside too and greet them appropriately but my true focus are those humans. I know they have been known to carry those tasty treats sometimes. What I know? I know a few things - sit, lay down, stay, leave it and "twirl"! Did you see my video? That's me twirling! I love to get in the car and go for car rides too! I have been around young kids in my past but haven't lived with them for a while; we think 8+ would be a good age for me overall. I live as an only dog now and I am pretty good at that too. I do enjoy my dog friends outside the home especially if they are about my size and bigger. I have also lived with cats and just ignored them :). I am located in the tri-state area!
