My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hank The Tank has an unusual story and I will tell you in a moment. But first, Hank is looking for a home to retire in. A quiet home where he can meander around inside, doing what hank does best, rest, watch and comes over for a tender rub on his head. He may do fine in a home with another young cat. Dogs may not be his favorite unless they are super calm, cat friendly and mind their own space. Young children would not be a good option, but an older child who understands cats and cats boundaries. Hank the Tank uses the cat box. He is neutered,  and scheduled to have his rabies vaccine, microchip, nail trim and check up. Yes he is 10-11years old. Now here is is story.  Hank has been an outside cat in our fosters back yard for 10 years. We built him a large hutch, kept the hutch heated for him and the food coming every day. He roamed our back yard, called the area his place and kept to himself. For ten years he would not come over for pats, in fact he would run off or hiss at me. He was never aggressive, just never had a human touch. I was sad for him as I thought he would die one day never knowing what a gentle hand felt like. He watched as I went out every morning and afternoon to check on him, say hello and add to his food bowl.  Over the 10+ years Hank The Tank shared the back yard with some wondering late night raccoons and once is a blue moon a possum. They had their boundaries and Hank never had an issue.  My indoor cat, Chipper Jones has spent the last 7 years watching Hank in the back yard. Often running from window to window to see where Hank was going. Last month, for the very first time in 10 years Hank reached up into our window sill peeking in to watched us. It was like he was asking for something. When going outside to feed him, he started for the first time greeting me and curling around my feet as I was filling his food and water dish. Hank was looking older and more tired. When Hank reached up to the window to peek in a second time, I knew that was it! He was asking for help after 10 years. He was getting old and looking tired and I knew he would not live much longer out in the elements. Another week out there  probably would have killed him. I brought him inside to evaluate him. We were not sure if he should be put to sleep (age related) or given another chance. So I observed him. I set him up in our enclosed patio, dry and warm, with his litter box, sleeping beds. He is comfortable, but he cannot stay here. He cannot go back outside to face the elements either. So we are conflicted as what to do. I want to find him a home. A home to give him another chance where he can be cared for and safe. Having him go back out side would not be the best for him at all. He is content, comfortable and comes over to greet me when I come into the room. HE EVEN PURRS. I would not feel good about putting him down after evaluating him and seeing his progress. He does have a small healed scare on his nose. I know he will do the same in a new home where he can retire. Please help Hank The Tank. Thank you.

More about this rescue

Cat's Cradle Rescue keeps cats out of shelters by offering an alternative to a cage - we are a no-kill FOSTER-HOME BASED rescue group that welcomes cats to our home environments as they await adoption.

Why Foster Care? Does your new kitty like children? Does she play with dogs or find other felines too uncomfortable to be around? Does he have consistent litter-box manners? Does he want to cuddle or perhaps his comfort zone is to be more independent. Many life-factors influence cat behavior and while genetics plays a role, we know that human touch, kindness, nurturing and consistency of care are non-negotiable requirements. We provide all of this.
