My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Layla deserved a second chance and through our rescue community she has received it

Layla’s rescue story is one of resilience. She was found roaming the streets of Houston as a stray, thrown away like trash, for a very long time. So many people tried to step up and attempted to help her, but she was just too scared of humans to catch. Somehow an object (a traffic cone)got stuck around her head while she was on the streets and it became embedded into her neck… at this point time was of the essence to save her life. Thankfully, she was safely tranquilized by animal control, making it as low stress of a situation for Layla as possible, and brought to the ER where she got the medical care she very desperately needed.

Layla has now been in foster for almost two years since being rescued. She’s been receiving so much wonderful love and care in her foster home. We actually wanted to take her into our program last year, but she really needed some more time to settle in and learn how to live in a home and be someone’s pet and though she’s absolutely adored by her foster family, it’s time for the next step in her journey opening up their home to help another dog that needs them. So Layla is now scheduled to travel to Massachusetts next month!!

This girl is beautiful and she’s so sweet. She deserves the best home and we would like for her to get just that!

More about this rescue

The Gals Best Pal Rescue Mission is to be a voice for the voiceless as it advocates for the dogs in its care while finding them safe, suitable, caring homes. The organization works with likeminded partners across the country and throughout the state of Massachusetts to rescue unwanted animals experiencing neglect, abuse, homelessness or at risk of euthanasia. The rescue also strives to make a difference for many unwanted dogs from different unfortunate situations. It does this by providing nurturing foster homes, promoting the importance of responsible dog ownership and, most importantly, spaying and neutering every dog that comes through the rescue as it aims to cut back on the overpopulation crisis occurring in many shelters and rescues across the nation.
