This helps Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue with pet care costs.
Tallulah is sweet, gentle, curious and playful. Independent girl, but really loves affection and engagement - a perfect balance I would say. She is very smart and responsive to positive training, calm with baths. Non-reactive in general (no barking/startling/prey drive/anxiety/fine with doorbell/loud sounds etc). Appreciates calm, respectful and warm greetings (too fast coming at her or picking her up makes her tuck her ears and tail and feel nervous). Not destructive (just some puppy curiosity. I've seen waaay more destructive 4mo pups).
Favorite things: chasing a ball/soft frisbee/pinecone, any new toys (a toy rotation would be great to keep things fresh for her), playing with her brother, giving tiny chin boops & gentle kisses to humans, playing with other dogs, walking around the yard following closely to boop your hands, kong filled with peanut butter, enjoys training sessions, quietly observing the activity around the house and yard. She enjoys chewing bones (so offering safe chewing engagement when left alone will be great). She is so observant she notices and watches birds flying in the sky! She loves to perk her ears up and notice everything (but is still non-reactive).
Potty training: potty trained 90%. I have paper down in their pen and she will pee there overnight or if I miss a daytime nap wakeup, but 90% pees are outside and 100% poops are outside since day 3. I think it was harder for her to master than her brother because her digestive system took a longer time adjusting to new food etc.
Night: Sleeps quietly in her pen area from 11pm - 5/6am. Sometimes a mild whine at 3/4am (sometimes will settle on her own or sometimes I sit nearby for 2min then she will sleep til 6:30am).
Crating: Her crate is inside the pen area with the door removed. She enjoys napping, sleeping and eating in her crate but we haven't practiced closing it with her left alone yet. Really enjoys her pen area and feels safest there.
Ideal home:
- Would love another dog sibling (she is VERY social and has a somewhat submissive personality, but leads play more than her brother)
- Family who would love to spend time playing/training.
- A home with small kids would be great.
- A home with an outdoor space for her to run and play in, because she really loves to be outside (or at least a family who will take her on adventures and walks if they don't have a yard). A longer play session/exercise, especially at night, will help her sleep well.
- Home with cats is fine.
- If she has a dog sibling with her, she's content to relax and play outside for a long time without human engagement (a plus for a busy family). But I think she wouldn't want to be totally alone for too long, so if she is an only dog, then ideally a family who is able to engage often.
- She will adapt well to various lifestyles.
- She's so smart and would be happiest with training and time to play outside.
Training: She knows "let's go outside!" when I open her pen she knows to go straight to the backdoor. Once we come in I say "kennel!" and she goes straight to her pen. She is learning to "sit" for a treat and is picking it up well. Have not practiced leashing yet. Working on stairs (she'll go up 3 stairs so far).
Miscellaneous: mildly curious but non-engaging about our cats (no apparent prey drive, she will watch them curiously but will refocus her attention elsewhere), amazing with small children (never jumps up, never runs into them or bites fingers, no mouthing at all, fine with kid screaming/dancing etc). Equally comfortable with men. She will default to a "freeze" response when nervous/scared. Each day she's more comfortable with new experiences so she's exhibiting that less and less.
