Frank the Tank was found outdoors in rural Kentucky and was brought to a shelter there. Shelters in rural areas don't get a lot of adopters, so he remained in the shelter for 10 months. Fortunately, an animal control officer in the area recognized how special he was, so he landed in a great foster home with a friend of theirs.
Frank's foster home reported he was great with their little kids and resident dogs and had no complaints at all. He does well in the crate, only had one accident the first day, and learned the doggy door within hours! He also loves car rides.
He hasn't been at Heartland long, but we are already smitten with his nubby tail that constantly wags and his unsinkable exuberance for life. Some who are familiar with Boxers have told us he has the classic "Boxer" personality: exuberant, excited, happy, and playful.
Frank the Tank is the most goofy little weirdo! He has huge eyes that always look surprised, and he greets all creatures with the same welcoming joy. He never turns down a playdate, a snuggle, or a soft couch to hang out on.
Frank is a great fit for a family, single person, or couple who want to give him the training, positive reinforcement, and love he's been waiting so long for. He hasn't lost hope, come in and see if Frank the Tank is the country boy you've been missing!
Frank the Tank's adoption fee is $300.00. This animal is neutered and up to date on core vaccines. Frank the Tank is Heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment with us. Heartland will cover the cost of treatment until he is Heartworm negative.
Heartworm is not contagious to other dogs or people; it is a mosquito-borne disease. It is both preventable and curable! Once cured, there are no long term health effects associated with having Heartworm.
Frank the Tank is on a 28 day course of antibiotics, after which he will receive three injections to treat his Heartworm, all to take place at our shelter with our veterinarian.
That will complete the treatment, but he will need a quick retest at the adopter's vet 9 months post-treatment to make sure that he is Heartworm-free.
