My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gravy Girl
Independent Queen Energy
Gravy Girl is exactly what her name suggests: rich in personality, a little savory, and best appreciated when you let her set the pace.
She is a true cat’s cat — which means if she wants attention, she will absolutely let you know. When she does seek you out, she adores face rubs and gentle affection and will happily lean into your hands once she’s decided you’ve earned it.
Gravy Girl can be shy at first and prefers a calm, respectful approach. Sit down, give her a moment, let her sniff you, and she’ll take it from there. She’s not rude • she’s discerning.
She previously lived with other cats and did best once her more confident housemates were out of the picture. Since blossoming on her own, she’s shown she would thrive as a solo cat where she can fully relax and shine. A quieter home would be ideal for her.
She enjoys lounging in windows, observing the world, and living her best low-drama life. She is litter box trained, enjoys cardboard scratchers, and has a healthy appetite • especially if you remember to smush the canned food first (she has standards).
Gravy Girl has had dental extractions and has recovered beautifully. She’s feeling good and ready to settle into a home that understands cats don’t need to be clingy to be loving.
If you appreciate a cat who knows herself, values consent, and gives affection because she wants to • not because she has to • Gravy Girl might be your perfect match.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are offering adoptions at our shelter from 12 noon - 6 p.m. daily. Our dog and cat adoption areas are open for walk-throughs every day. We are dedicated to making our shelter a pleasant environment for the animals and our guests. Adoption fees waived (FREE) for animals 6+ years old! Find your furever friend today...

If you are interested in adopting, check out the available animals on this website by using the tabs to the left or by clicking here for up-to-date information on pets currently available for adoption.

Adopters must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver's license or government-issued ID, provide payment, and be required to sign the adoption contract.

We cannot finalize adoptions over the phone or online. This is a family decision; everyone in the adopter’s household is encouraged to meet the animal at the shelter. The actual adoption visit takes place in designated areas and typically lasts 10-15 minutes. During this time, you will be able to spend some quality time getting to know the animal and deciding if they are a match for your home. At the end of the visit, if it’s a match, GREAT! In keeping with the desire to limit visits, our expectations are that you are prepared to take the animal home the same day. If you are interested in adopting a dog, and you have a dog (or dogs) at home, they must successfully meet each other before completing the adoption.

More about this shelter

The SPCA Cincinnati is your Cincinnati Hometown Humane Society and has been for 150 years. When you ask, “Who is the SPCA near me?”, you’ll find us, with solutions for everything animal-related — from pet adoptions to vaccination clinics. We provide compassionate care for any animals that come to us, from food to medical care, exercise, enrichment, and love to get them ready to go to their new homes.

We are the pet placement experts locally and across our nation, making the SPCA Cincinnati the place to go for adopting cats and dogs, as well as small animals.

We do all we can to support people so that pet surrender is a last resort, such as providing pet food donations for those under financial strain and behavioral training. We partner with human social service agencies to keep pets in their current homes and to improve their quality of life. We value innovative educational techniques to keep pets and families together, enrich shelter life, promote the humane treatment of all animals, and prevent pet overpopulation.

Our work is made possible through the compassion and generosity of donors — caring friends like you.
