Meet Scooby, a 6-year-old Maltese mix who's perfect for someone looking for a calm, gentle companion. He can be a bit shy when first meeting new people and may need some time to warm up, but once he feels comfortable, his sweet and silly personality starts to shine. Scooby isn't much for toys, but he absolutely loves treats and will happily do a little dance to earn them. He has "dry eye," which can make the world seem a bit blurry at times and contributes to his timid nature. Because of this, he's still nervous about unexpected or non-consensual touch and prefers to interact at his own pace. Although he may not always show affection in typical ways, he truly enjoys the presence of his people. Once he knows you, when you walk into the room, Scooby will greet you with an adorable little dance, waving his paws in excitement to let you know he's happy to see you. After his greeting, he's content to go on a quiet walk or return to his cozy bed to relax and simply enjoy your company. Scooby is a quiet, sensitive soul who would thrive in a patient home that appreciates his gentle nature and unique way of showing love. Primary Color: Black Weight: 15.7 Age: 6yrs 1mths 3wks

Four simple steps to adopt a pet
1. Visit the SPCA at 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway across from WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Visit with the pet you are interested in adopting to see if his personality fits your lifestyle.
2. If you are adopting a new dog and already have one at home, you will need to introduce them at the SPCA to ensure a good match. When adopting, please bring your current dog with you. Our animal care staff will assist you with introducing your current dog to the dog you are hoping to adopt. We also prefer when possible that all family members living in the home meet any new pet before adopting.
3. The SPCA adoption process takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. All paperwork, vaccination records, and microchip information will be provided at this time.
4. Take your new lifelong family member home!
We understand that sometimes potential adopters are at work or school, coming from long distances, or need time to gather pets and family together to meet their potential new adoptee. Because of this, the SPCA offers a 24 hour hold on adoptable pets.
Holds cost $30 for a 24 hour period.
