My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Max was brought in by her previous owner on February 14, 2026.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Max, the ultimate high-fashion icon of the guinea pig world! Max is a starlet who is looking for a family ready to double as her personal glam squad. With her stunning, flowing coat, she'll need a dedicated owner who enjoys the "spa life" and will keep her luxurious locks brushed, stylish, and tangle-free. To keep this diva living in the lap of luxury, she requires a spacious, horizontal "runway" of at least 8-10 square feet to strut her stuff. Her gourmet menu includes unlimited timothy or orchard hay, daily fresh greens, and red bell peppers for that essential Vitamin C glow. When you come to escort Max to her new estate, please bring a secure carrier fit for a queen. If you have a passion for fashion and a heart for a sweet, long-haired companion, Max is ready to make her grand debut in your home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
