Meet Spice, a sweet senior kitty with a heart full of love! Spice is very friendly and affectionate, and while she adores attention, she’s also wonderfully independent—she enjoys doing her own thing during the day and curling up with her person when she’s ready for some snuggles. She can be a little nervous around new people at first, but she does warm up once she feels safe. Spice loves wet food, catnip, and chasing wand toys, making her playtime just as delightful as her cuddle time. She has lived with other cats and generally does well, though in her previous home some cats were a bit too bossy for her gentle nature. This lovely lady is looking for a calm, patient home where she can be loved at her own pace and continue to enjoy her favorite things in life. Spice is the perfect mix of independence and affection—she’s ready to bring a little extra love and calm companionship to the right family.
Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully.

You have two options:
#1- VISIT IN PERSON
Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter.
(Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.)
#2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD**
If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours.
**Holds are not available on Saturdays and during adoption events.

All cat adoption fees include;
-spay/neuter
-rabies vaccine
-current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian)
-FeLV/FIV blood test
-microchip implanted & registered to the adopter
-treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites
-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin
-free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians
Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.
