My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Harriet!
Harriet came to the SPCA as a stray found fending for herself in a rural area, so her past is a bit of a mystery. What we do know is that she's now ready to hop into her happily‑ever‑after! While she can be a little shy at first, Harriet has already grown more confident during her stay with us. She'll even hop over bravely when snacks are involved!

Harriet was found with another rabbit so may be okay being around another rabbit or two. We aren't sure how she feels about other species. With slow, thoughtful introductions, she may enjoy having another rabbit companion. Her future adopters should be familiar with proper rabbit care, including diet, enrichment, and appropriate housing. Harriet would love a home where she has plenty of space to run, explore, and stretch out. She especially enjoys burrowing into cozy blankets and munching on fresh veggies. Because she is a bit nervous of handling we would not recommend her for young children.

If you think Harriet might be the perfect match for you, please complete the application at the link below and send photos of your proposed setup to kamloops@spca.bc.ca:

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
