Hi, I’m Smudge—and yes, I’m the confident one (after a minute or two).
I’m under a year old and while I can be a little shy at first, it doesn’t take me long to settle in and show you who I really am. Once I feel safe, I’m outgoing, curious, and pretty sure I’ve got this whole “being a great cat” thing figured out. New situations don’t scare me much—I like to assess, adapt, and then carry on like a pro.
When I decide you’re my person, that’s when the real magic happens. I enjoy being held. With a little time (and practice), I could absolutely become that cat who leaps right into your arms on cue. If you’re looking for a cuddle bug with confidence and charisma, congratulations—you found me.
I’m especially attached to my best buddy Tater Tot. We sleep tangled together whenever we can, and we’d love to find a home as a pair. If that’s not possible, I’ll need a home with another young, friendly kitty who’s ready to be my new snuggle partner.
I didn’t have the easiest start—I was found behind a McDonald’s—but I’ve never let that define me. I’m affectionate, brave, and full of love, just waiting for a family to scoop me up (literally).
Pick me up?
—Smudge

AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
