Straight from the oven and gooey gooey cookie perfection, Oreo, Snickerdoodle, Sugar, and Nilla are a group of four rats whose sweetness has baked its way right into our rescue. They are less then a year old and all male. They are part of a larger rat project we’ve been working on with several rats, and this crew, has been a wonderful example of just how social, intelligent, and emotionally connected these little animals can be.
None of the four are big fans of being held just yet, but all of them are comfortable being gently pet inside their enclosure. Based on how deeply bonded they are with one another, we truly believe they have strong potential to become affectionate little loves with people over time, especially in a patient, understanding home that allows them to move at their own pace.
These four have naturally paired themselves off in the sweetest ways. Oreo, the dark one, is the most confident of the bunch and is often spotted hanging out on a level of the cage by himself while the other three are huddled together. He’s frequently found cuddled up with Snickerdoodle, the one with the stripe down his back, while Sugar and Nilla tend to stick close to each other, usually tucked into a cozy rat pile. We think even watching their little social dynamics is enough to land them the home they deserve.
They are deeply bonded and thrive on companionship, spending much of their time cuddling, grooming, and keeping one another company. Because of this, they may be adopted as pairs or all four together, but they would not do well alone.
Potential adopters must be able to show proof of a proper rat enclosure and should have general knowledge of rat care, or at the very least, a genuine willingness to learn. These boys deserve a home that understands their needs and is committed to helping them continue to grow in confidence.
With time, consistency, and a sprinkle of human sweetness, we believe this shy little batch will bake into affectionate companions themselves. They may be short of a baker’s dozen, but they’re overflowing with potential and love, just waiting for the right home to help it rise. If you think you are that perfect home, apply to adopt at the link below!
