Phil is a male cat who presented quiet, depressed, and dehydrated. He has been diagnosed with Feline Infectious Respiratory Disease (FIRD) and is not responding to medical therapy despite supportive care. Phil continues to have persistent clinical signs and remains dehydrated, requiring ongoing treatment and close monitoring. FIRD can be serious, especially when patients do not respond as expected to therapy. Phil’s condition requires a higher level of medical support, monitoring, and potential advanced interventions than we are able to consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite feeling unwell, Phil remains gentle and tolerant of handling while receiving care. Phil urgently needs a safe, compassionate placement where he can receive continued veterinary evaluation, intensive supportive care, and monitoring to give him the best chance at recovery.
This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to the level of medical care required, which exceeds what we can provide in the shelter. If you are interested in helping, please email dasadopt@dallas.gov with your contact information so we can call you back.
