My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CERTIFIED CHATTY CAT

DOB 4/1/25

Hey there, everyone! I’m Jasper, a cuddly, extremely playful, and curious brown tabby fella with strong mackerel stripes that make me look like an exotic jungle cat. I’m a very friendly and sociable guy who loves people, especially Foster Meowmy. That’s because she scratches my head just the way I like it – gently and endlessly. If it’s cuddle time, I don’t hesitate to poke my paw at her to remind her that I’m due for those glorious head massages. I can be a Velcro kitty who likes to stick close to her so much that I follow her around just to be in the same room with her. I’m not demanding, but sometimes I like to rub my pheromones on her legs just to remind her that I’m there. Occasionally I wake up and crawl up to be right next to her or lie on top of her.

Foster Meowmy calls me her “certified yapper” because I’ll talk her arm off if I’m bored or lonely. And I don’t hesitate to give her my opinion on something when I’m exploring new spaces, toys, and even my siblings’ tails! Yes, I’m an extremely curious guy who continues to investigate and observe my surrounding world – long after my siblings have crashed and burned. In fact, I have gotten so seriously focused on my explorations that I’ve jumped straight in the air when Foster Meowmy surprised me by touching me. Always ready to play, I’m a frisky dude who’s obsessed with baby mice, crinkle balls, and spring toys. Another time that I “meow” to Foster Meowmy is to enlist her assistance in finding my favorite toys that I’ve lost.

My feral momma birthed Obsidian, Onyx, Topaz, and me underneath the seat of an old car parked in a used-car business. Foster Meowmy’s finding us might never have happened if she hadn’t been trying to rescue another set of kittens whom another feral momma had birthed outside of Foster Meowmy’s house. The other momma had moved her litter from Meowmy’s yard to a few doors down to the used-car business. Imagine Meowmy’s surprise when she found not only the kittens she’d been tracking under the driver’s seat but also my litter under the passenger’s seat!! When we were seven weeks old and could eat on our own, Foster Meowmy gathered up both of our stowaway litters and brought us all inside to the safe haven of her home.

Now I’m ready to bring my affectionate cuddling, Velcro companionship, and endearing chatter to my forever family. Could that be you? Will you help me find my lost toys? Arrange to meet me today, and if you’re looking for a pair of kittens, please consider adopting me with one of the other #car-stowaways. We think it’d be the cat’s meow if we could be adopted as a pair so we could be playmates and cuddle buddies while you’re at work or on vacation.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Adopting an animal is a very serious decision and we want to be sure that our potential adoptive families have thought about the impact of this decision carefully. To adopt an animal through HOPE, we request that you complete an Adoption Application, a copy of which is available online for cats at http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/cat-adoption.php or for dogs at http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php. You may fill it out online or print a copy of the application and complete it prior to arriving at an adoption session. This will expedite the adoption process and will also assist our adoption counselors in matching you to a suitable pet.

We at HOPE make every effort to match our foster pets to appropriate homes. If you feel that we are too intrusive, please understand that it is because we care about their welfare.

Fees
All animals are neutered or spayed and have received age appropriate shots prior to being adopted. We ask that you provide a $100 donation for cats and a donation of $150 for dogs when you adopt your new family member from us. This donation helps us in defraying the costs of these and other medical needs of our animals.

Mobile adoption sessions are held on the weekends. All adoption sessions run from 12:00 - 4:00 pm at a variety of locations and days as noted on our website http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-locations/. For more information, please contact us at hope@homelesspets.net

More about this rescue

Our mission is to end the homelessness of cats and dogs through foster to adoption, feral cat Trap-Neuter-Return, and education.

HOMELESS & ORPHANED PETS ENDEAVOR (HOPE) is an all-foster, no kill adoption group based in the Houston area.

HOPE covers the cost of general medical expenses for the animals in the program, such as altering, routine vaccinations and treatment for parasites. Our foster families are asked to provide food, shelter and love to the animals for which they care. They receive no payment for the services that they provide. Without them, and the other volunteers who so selflessly do what is necessary to keep HOPE afloat, it would not be possible to run this nonprofit corporation.

One aim of HOPE is to develop a network of area rescue and humane organizations which will facilitate the rescue and placement of a variety of animals. The goal is to never have to turn away an animal in need. By forming a coalition of humane and rescue groups in the Houston area, we could potentially place all animals who need a temporary home until they are placed into a permanent one.
