Their adoption process
Austin Bulldog Rescue is 100% foster-based, and does not have a shelter or facility where applicants can come meet dogs before applying. Meet and greets with a potential match will happen after an adoption application is approved. ABR is a matching rescue -- while our teams take dog preference into account, we ultimately match families to the dog best suited for their home and lifestyle. The more thoroughly you answer the interview questions, the better the matching experience on all sides!
Adoption steps
- Submit Application
- Submit an adoption application via our website. Candidates can apply for a specific dog or submit a general application.
- Interview
- Go through our interview process, including a virtual home check.
- Approve Application
- If applicants are approved, they will be notified by our team via email. They may or may not get a match, at this step.
- Meet the Pet
- Applicants must go to the foster's home to meet their match in person and are encouraged to bring their dog(s) and kid(s), if applicable.
- Sign Adoption Contract
- Review medical records, sign our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee in full.
- Take the Pet Home
- Adopters must pick up their dog in person and get them home safely. Sorry, ABR cannot ship dogs.
Go meet their pets
ABR does not operate a shelter or facility where applicants can come meet our dogs in person. All of our dogs are in separate, loving foster homes in or around Austin.

Austin Bulldog Rescue (ABR) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, breed specific, English Bulldog Rescue Organization in Austin, TX. We are a volunteer run organization that relies solely on tax deductible donations to provide the much needed medical care that our rescued bulldogs require. ABR is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of unwanted English Bulldogs, education of owners on responsible dog ownership, and education of the public on the English Bulldog breed.
