My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mr. Meowgi is the kind of cat who will make you seriously consider calling your boss to explain that you can’t possibly come in today because… well… there’s a cat on you. A very committed cat. He firmly believes that humans exist primarily as furniture with heartbeats, and his favorite position is either on you or pressed directly against you. When you attempt to stand up, Mr. Meowgi will mysteriously lose all structural integrity and melt bonelessly into a puddle of cat that slowly oozes off your lap. The bones will not return until you have walked away.

Please do not meet Mr. Meowgi if you are the sort of person who thinks a cat can be “too affectionate.” He is a professional-level cuddler and takes this responsibility seriously.

Nighttime, in Mr. Meowgi’s opinion, is a sacred appointment for bedtime snuggles. Before settling in, he must perform an elaborate ritual involving enthusiastic biscuit-making and blanket-biting while carefully rearranging the bedding to his exact specifications. Once the ceremony is complete, he curls up close beside you — never on your head like an amateur — and will only claim your chest or lap in the morning when it is clearly time for breakfast (according to him).

Speaking of breakfast: Mr. Meowgi is a passionate food enthusiast. Meals, treats, snacks, crumbs, suspicious rustling sounds — he appreciates them all. Couch snacks should be supervised carefully, as he maintains a particular professional interest in donuts, which rank somewhere in his personal Top Ten Foods of All Time.

Between cuddle sessions, Mr. Meowgi enjoys a vigorous game with a toy mouse or wand and considers tunnels to be excellent strategic observation posts — especially when he can peek out dramatically to monitor your activities. He uses vertical rope scratchers like a gentleman and has perfect litter box manners.

Mr. Meowgi is also learning to share his kingdom with the resident dog — a small creature with the personality of a koala. He has shown no aggression and will happily sit beside the dog if treats are being distributed fairly. He loves to hang out with children- including new kids he just met.

Mr. Meowgi does have a few minor quirks. Personal space is still a developing concept, particularly if you are eating on the couch or have the audacity to walk past him without offering a pet or snack tribute. He may occasionally object to being petted the wrong way or for slightly too long, but he gives fair warning — watch for the flicking tail. Pause respectfully, and he will reset himself and soon drift off to sleep… most likely on top of you. Once he wakes up, petting privileges are usually reinstated. He does get annoyed when you walk away when he wants something- easily fixed by picking him up and taking him with you.

If you’re looking for a devoted shadow, a professional snuggler, and a slightly boneless lap companion with a strong interest in pastries, Mr. Meowgi is ready to take his place in your heart — and on your chest.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

By adopting a Feline Rescue cat you will be supporting a caring, no-kill shelter and making room for one more homeless cat. We are always looking for good, safe, loving homes for our many cats and kittens. We want to be sure placements are a success for both parties, so before we send our feline friends home with anyone, we ask you to fill out a basic questionnaire. Since we work with cats everyday we will be able to suggest a perfect match to your needs. All of our cats are spayed or neutered before adoption, receive all age-appropriate vaccinations, and high-quality veterinary care and exams. We charge an adoption fee to offset these costs. Adoption Hours: We are open seven days a week for adoptions, but our hours do vary. Please visit our website to see up to date open hours.
