Huey was surrender by a hunt club and after living his life outside is ready to join a family. Will it be yours?
Huey is a young, playful, lovable beagle who loves food, sitting next to you and being petted, and going for walks. He likes other dogs but is a little timid and shy with people. After not quite 2 weeks, he is still getting comfortable being a pet, but he does likes company (both people and dogs) and would do better with another dog in the house.
He is learning to walk on a leash and enjoys his walks and follows his foster siblings. Housebreaking has been a little harder with the horrible weather we have had and is a work in progress. We feed him in a crate but have not left him in it longer.
He is 5 years old, neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and negative for heartworms. He is ready to leave and start his new life as a family pet.
He is located in Williamsburg, Va.

Additional adoption info
We require an application. Once the application is received we check personal and vet references and if renting, we verify with leasing company that pets are allowed. If that is approved, we set up a meeting with the pet. We then perform a home check. If the person wants to adopt, we require a contract and our adoption fee is $300.00. Our dogs are all spayed/neutered, HW tested, up to date on shots and micro-chipped.

More about this rescue
Homes Fur Hounds Inc. was formed to help the overwhelming number of animals that are abandoned, surrendered to county agencies and simply unwanted. These animals are facing death due to no fault of their own other than not being convenient. Our mission is to help stop the unnecessary killing of animals. Thousands of animals are put to sleep (some more humanely than others) every day. We strive to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, heartworm preventive and general health care. We also strive to help owners who are experiencing difficulties with their pet find solutions to their problems. By helping them find solutions we keep the animals out of the county pounds and from being abandoned. It is our policy to adopt out only healthy dogs and to do our best to know and understand what type of home the dog needs. We are always striving to find that “forever home” for the animals.
