My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pending adoption

We have a transport leaving on 2/28/26 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Abigail to our trip for the right family 😊

Abigail

Maltese/Poodle mix (with the cutest little underbite that makes us think she may have a touch of Shih Tzu somewhere in her DNA 🙃)

Birthday 5/20/24

Right around 9 lbs, full grown and at a beautiful healthy weight.

Abigail is one of those girls who simply makes you smile. She has a soft straight-to-wavy coat when grown out, which makes coat maintenance much easier than a tighter curl. She is hypoallergenic, so shedding won’t be a concern, and she is wonderful with our groomers — truly, she loves a good spa day and soaks up the attention.

She has such an easygoing, happy nature. Always lighthearted. Always content being part of whatever the day may bring. Road trips? She’s ready. Running errands? She’s in. Quiet evening at home? Her favorite. She just wants to be near her person and included in your world — however big or small that world may be 💕

She loves meeting new people and will gladly roll over for belly rubs or ear scratches without hesitation. She is not a barker, but she will politely alert you to unfamiliar noises without being excessive.

Abigail does beautifully with other dogs. Her confidence naturally matches dogs closer to her size, but if given proper introductions and time to build trust, she does very well with larger dogs too. She simply prefers energy that feels safe and balanced for her at first. With patience, she forms lovely bonds and will make a wonderful addition to a home with existing pets.

She walks nicely on leash and enjoys her daily strolls. She was trained off leash, but for her safety — especially around wildlife or stray animals — we always encourage leash use in public areas.

She is crate trained (although she would absolutely vote for sleeping in your bed if given the choice 😌). If being in bed isn’t an option, she settles beautifully as long as she can see you and know you are close by. Proximity to her person brings her comfort.

She is house trained and goes outside every 3–4 hours to use the restroom. She was also trained to use potty pads and does well with either routine, though in our care she primarily goes outdoors.

Abigail came to us because her previous owner had to relocate quickly and could not afford the pet fees required at her new residence. With limited time and options, she asked us to take Abigail in and find her the incredible home she deserves — and that is exactly what we are committed to doing.

At the end of the day, Abigail would be just as happy being your little princess as she would being part of a pack. She is gentle, beautifully natured, happy all the time, and ready to give her whole heart to her forever family.

Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/abigail

It includes her veterinary exam, vaccines, microchip and registration, spay, grooming, daily care, and the training she has received while in our care.

If you feel Abigail may be the missing piece in your life, we would love to talk more and see if she is the right fit for your family 💕
