My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Arnold “Arnie” – A Gentle Giant Ready for His Second Chance

Arnold, lovingly called Arnie, is an 8-year-old Cane Corso with a story that spans continents. Born in Russia and brought to the United States for backyard breeding, Arnie’s early life was about producing puppies — not being someone’s cherished companion. Now neutered and officially retired (he is registered with the International Cane Corso Federation), Arnie is finally getting the chance to learn what it means to simply be a dog — and he’s ready to find a patient, understanding home to continue that journey.
Arnie has completed heartworm treatment and is on the road to a healthier, happier future. He is crate trained and settles well in his crate, though he will shred plush beds — so blankets or chew-proof bedding are best. He loves to chew (a lot!), so plenty of durable chew toys and supervision when he’s not crated are a must.
He is not fully house trained yet and will need consistency and structure. Arnie also has coprophagia, so immediate yard cleanup is necessary. The good news? He is extremely food motivated and not food aggressive at all, which makes training much easier. Right now, “sit” and "shake" are the only commands he knows, but he is eager to learn and will thrive with someone committed to continuing his training.
Arnie would do wonderfully with another stable, well-mannered dog who can serve as a role model. He has a low prey drive and does well around cats, choosing to calmly ignore them. Because he is still learning that jumping isn’t appropriate and can be strong on leash (he is not leash trained and does pull), a home without small children would be best.
Bath time isn’t his favorite, but with calm direction, he will walk into the tub willingly. He is tolerant of nail trims and generally cooperative with handling. Arnie appears to carry some past trauma; he can become fearful and cry around certain men, particularly those with deeper voices or darker complexions. With patience, reassurance, and positive experiences, he continues to build confidence and trust.
Arnie is a big, sensitive soul who simply never had the chance to be someone’s beloved companion. He will need structure, supervision, and continued training — but in return, you’ll get a loyal, devoted dog who is finally learning what safety and kindness feel like.
If you’re experienced with large breeds, believe in second chances, and are ready to help a gentle giant write his next chapter, Arnie is waiting. 🖤

More about this rescue

Tramp's Rescue is an all volunteer organization. We are a small organization that rescues dogs from local animal shelters and other places.

We typically keep around thirty dogs at a time. We provide all necessary medical treatments including spaying or neutering, heartworm, and anything the veternarian recommends.

Once we rescue a dog, that dog will stay with us until he/she finds a good home.

We hold weekly adoption stands at different local stores such as Petco and Petsmart.

We are a non-profit organization dependent on donations to rescue these dogs. We can use any type of assistance you can provide, such as volunteer dog handlers, foster homes for dogs, or donations of food or money
