My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Vanessa - your quiet little shadow...with a few demands.

At first glance, Vanessa may seem like the shy, slinky type who prefers to observe from a distance. Give her a moment (and maybe a soft voice) and suddenly she is right there - leaning in, and headbutting with enthusiasm, demanding the pets she so clearly deserves.

Once Vanessa decides you're her person, she's all in. Expect loud, rumbling purrs, affectionate nudges, and a tabby who will happily remind you when your hands are not doing their job. She's sweet, gentle and will thrive in a calm, laid-back home where her affectionate nature can shine without too much chaos.

If you're looking for a low-key companion who starts soft and ends VERY cuddly, Vanessa is ready to slink way into your heart - and then firmly bonk it with her head.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1941 by the third female graduate from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, SAVE is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit animal shelter dedicated to protecting the health and welfare of homeless companion animals in the greater Princeton area and beyond. Through six core programs of Rescue, Shelter, Health and Welfare, Spay/Neuter, Foster and Adoption.

The SAVE shelter facility has the capacity to house upwards of 100 animals at a time (approximately 75 cats and 25 dogs). The shelter exceeds no-kill benchmark standards and ensures that adoptable animals facing adversity are given a lifeline, a chance to flourish, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
