Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Marshall!
Marshall is a 75+ pound Boxer mix who is just over a year old. He came to us as an owner surrender after his previous family struggled to properly contain him. Marshall is a big, strong, active boy who needs structure, guidance, and room to thrive.
His previous owner shared that he did well with other dogs, though here he has shown signs of being selective at minimum. Proper introductions and experienced handling will be important. Because of his size, strength, and energy level, Marshall needs an adopter who is familiar with his breed type and committed to providing consistent training, exercise, and mental stimulation.
Shelter life has been hard on Marshall. He is scared and clearly uncomfortable in this environment. It may take time and patience to build his trust, but once he feels safe, he has the potential to form a strong bond with his person. Once he likes you, he becomes a hugger!
Marshall is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested, and he’s ready for a fresh start. He’s looking for a confident, experienced owner who can give him the leadership and stability he needs to succeed.
If you have the knowledge, patience, and dedication to help this big boy feel secure and channel his energy in positive ways, Marshall may be waiting for you.

More about this shelter
Norman Animal Welfare is a municipal shelter operated and funded by the City of Norman, Oklahoma. In addition to providing a safe environment for our adoptable animals we also are responsible for the enforcement of all animal related laws within the City of Norman and holding all stray animals that are located. In addition to these main roles, we also provide public microchipping, city pet licensing, and other educational services to our community.
We average approximately 3,400 animals in and out of our facility each year. We have an amazing facility that fully opened in 2016. We operate daily with a very limited staff supported by several amazing volunteers. We operate an active foster program and are always seeking to work with those in our community interested in assisting us in our mission.
