My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Solé (pronounced so-lay) is about 14 months old and pure sunshine in cat form. He was found
on the street as a very fragile kitten with multiple health issues and over the past year he has
grown into a healthy and vibrant young cat.

This affectionate, people-oriented cuddle kitty bonds deeply with his person and quickly turns
into a loving, playful companion. Chin rubs, head scratches, and snuggles are his favorite things
— he’ll happily curl up close at night, sleeping and snuggled up right beside you.

He thrives on connection and has been socialized around adults and children and bonds deeply
with his humans. He’s playful, curious, smart, and really fun to live with — loves string toys,
chasing balls, zoomies, goofy playtime, and even playing fetch and with water. He’s very
food-motivated and quick to learn, which makes bonding and enrichment easy and fun. He’s
also a chatty catty and vocalizes a bunch.

Solé would do best with a confident, equally playful feline companion or as an only cat. He can
be bold in his play style and needs the right match.

Health notes: Solé is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped (FeLV/FIV negative). His left eye
has a stable corneal condition (symblepharon) due to having feline herpes, that’s been
examined by 2 veterinary ophthalmologists (just to be sure) who both confirmed it needs no
treatment and is largely cosmetic, not affecting his health or quality of life. He also has a history
of struvite crystals and must stay on a prescription urinary diet. He’s currently stable and doing
great. Full vet records are available.

If you’re looking for a devoted, playful, affectionate young cat who will truly bond with you, Solé is your boy.

This cat can be adopted with a friend or as a single cat.

This is a courtesy listing, meaning the cat(s) are being offered for adoption by a rescuer, rescue group, or individual unaffiliated with the Brooklyn Cat Cafe or Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition. As BBAWC has not evaluated the animal(s) we therefore cannot provide information on health or temperament. After we receive an application, we will connect you with the current caretaker of this cat.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
