My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Walter

Walter is an 8 year old gentleman with a soft heart and a deep appreciation for couch life. He would happily spend the day indoors with takeout and Netflix, but regular walks and encouragement help keep him happy and healthy.

Walter is sensitive and can be shy with strangers, often preferring women. He is highly food motivated and has been living with a trainer to build confidence and bravery. He walks nicely on leash and is crate trained, though he may need a little patience when settling into a new home.

Walter has lived with both large and small dogs. He is not very social and usually prefers to ignore other dogs or play occasionally on his own terms. He may get cranky if another dog is too pushy, but he coexists well with respectful companions. He is believed to be fine with cats. He also accepts grooming like a champ.

Because of his sensitive nature, children may be overwhelming but with careful introduction, he may do well.

Walter thrives with someone who will gently encourage him to grow in bravery while respecting his pace. Once he bonds with you, he is an exceptional snuggler who loves cuddles, pets, and scritches.

Tell us about yourself, family, other pets, and how WALTER will mesh with your lifestyle. Qualifying applicants will be contacted by our Adoption Coordinator with next steps and an opportunity to set up a Meet & Greet.

Our process is NOT a “first come, first served” process. (We DO NOT hold pets for later consideration.) Our team carefully reviews and interviews applicants for the best possible fit for each adoptable pet, and potential family. Submitting an application does not guarantee a call or response from our rescue. Our volunteers will screen the applications and reach out if it is determined to be a good fit.

We look forward to facilitating a positive and solid adoption for WALTER as well as his future family.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process begins with an online application, submitted via our website. We do not guarantee a response, but will reach out if we think that it's a good fit and then arrange for a meet and greet. We do not hold dogs for more than 48 hours for a meet and greet, and if the dog is scheduled to go to an adoption event it will not be held back. We do not transport dogs out of area. We do same-day adoptions at our meet and greet appointments and adoption events. We offer a one-week trial period to our adopters to make sure that things work out, and we encourage adopters to be familiar with the 3-3-3 rule for dogs. We also highly encourage puppy classes for our puppies, as training is very important in ensuring that dogs stay in their forever homes.

All our dogs are in private foster homes prior to finding their forever homes. Please contact us if you see a dog you'd like to meet. To see multiple dogs, please check our website for our weekly adoption event times and locations.
