Meet Mango—a young orange tabby born in 2025 with big background character energy and the soul of a future snack tyrant.
Mango is the shyest of his siblings, the quiet one, the observer. Right now, he’s more shadow than cat—silently tracking you, the room, and most importantly… the stinky Churus. He watches. He waits. He calculates. He is patient in a way that suggests plans are being made.
With time, patience, and a generous supply of those mouthwatering fish treats, Mango is absolutely destined to rule the roost. The only mystery is how his inner treat goblin will emerge once he’s relaxed in his forever home.
Will he scream at you from the floor?
Will he gently (or not-so-gently) bat your hands until you surrender the precious prize?
Or will he continue to channel his inner cat burglar—silent, focused, and striking at the EXACT right moment?
Whatever form he takes, Mango is sweet, sensitive, and ready to blossom with the right person by his side. If you love a shy boy with comedic potential and a future filled with snacks, Mango is waiting… quietly… watching…

1) The first step to meet the cats at Animal House is to email us at AHcatadoption@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name, age, address, and phone number. We will respond as soon as possible to answer your questions and schedule an appointment to visit our shelter. If you have already submitted an inquiry through Adopt-a-Pet or Petfinder about a particular cat, there is no need to send a separate email.
2) During your appointment, you will complete a questionnaire and work with an adoption coordinator to find the cat that is right for you. This process may involve meeting with numerous cats, or even making more than one visit to Animal House. You and your new cat will live together for a lifetime, so this step is important.
3) Before adoption, we ensure that your cat has been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.
4) When your adoption is finalized, the adoption paperwork is completed and a $130 adoption fee for adult cats and $150 for kittens is collected.
We are located at:
2151 59th Street
St. Louis, Missouri 63110
(About a block southeast of
Hampton Avenue and Interstate 44)

More about this shelter
Animal House Cat Rescue and Adoption Center is a private, non-profit, “no-kill” organization dedicated to providing the homeless, abandoned cats and kittens of St. Louis with a better life. We are committed to maintaining an adoption center that provides a safe, healthy and enriching environment, and our goal is a solid and lasting adoption for every cat and kitten in our care.
Animal House opened in 2010 when the City of St. Louis closed its municipal shelter and ended a number of services for stray animals. Not only did the 75 cats residing in their shelter need a place to go, the St. Louis community needed services for abandoned, homeless cats. Animal House was born out of that need. Today we house 100-250 cats and kittens at any given time.
The cats and kittens at Animal House are rescued from the streets of our community and often come from challenging circumstances that include neglect, abandonment, or injury. We have created a safe place where cats in need find shelter, medical and nutritional support, individualized socialization and interaction, enrichment, lots of love, and the opportunity to connect with a loving, lifelong family. We impose no time limit on this process, giving each cat or kitten the time they need. We emphasize matchmaking throughout our adoption process to ensure the best possible match.
