My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Cindy was brought in by her previous owner on February 22, 2026.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Sweet Cindy is a very shy girl looking for a patient and understanding person who will let her acclimate at her own pace. She came from a home with a high volume of cats and has been quite overwhelmed in our care, so providing a quiet, calm environment without the hustle and bustle of young children is essential. Starting her off in a secure, confined space will be the key to her success, allowing her to slowly adjust to her new surroundings without feeling pressured. Cindy truly relies on the company of other social cats and is strongly recommended to be adopted with a friend from her original household or into a home with a confident, friendly cat. Building a bond with her should be facilitated through low-pressure interactions, tasty treats, and delicate play. Because she had limited experience with people during her early life, she will likely remain a shy girl in some capacity, but she has so much potential to settle in with a gentle approach. Please bring a top-loading cat carrier to ensure she has a safe and secure journey home.

Shy/Fearful Cat:  Cindy requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
