My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tuk! This 7-year-old Shepherd mix is 50 pounds of loyalty, heart, and full-body wiggles.

Tuk is a wonderful blend of playful and peaceful. On walks, he’s calm and easygoing with excellent leash manners. Bring out a ball, though, and he lights up, he loves fetch and will happily keep the game going before settling in beside you to watch the world pass by. He rides quietly in the car, is fully potty trained, and isn’t much of a barker. Tuk adores adult humans and may do well with respectful teens, but a home without babies or young children is best. He would likely prefer to be the only dog, though he does well seeing dogs out and about and is easily redirected. Cats? He loves them and has a history of cuddling with feline friends.

Tuk does have some ongoing medical needs, including anxiety and chronic skin allergies that are currently well managed with daily medications and a prescription hypoallergenic diet. He will also need a dental procedure in the coming months. With routine, structure, and consistency, he thrives and feels secure.

Tuk may be a little sensitive, but that sensitivity is what makes him such a devoted companion. He bonds deeply, greets his people with a happy dance, and simply wants to be near the ones he loves.

If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who will hike by your side, relax at your feet, and love you wholeheartedly, Tuk is ready to meet you.

Tuk is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.

More about this rescue

Founded by Vivian Goldbloom in 2013, Emerald City Pet Rescue exists to rescue abused, neglected, and homeless animals from high-volume shelters around the country.

We pride ourselves on providing the best medical care possible for our rescued animals and rehabilitating hard-to-adopt animals to help them increase their chances of finding loving homes.

Our screening process includes meet and greets, reference checks, and a visit to the potential owner’s home to ensure the home and family are compatible with the pet’s needs and our requirements. We do everything we can to ensure that loving homes are found for these amazing pets.

Emerald City Pet Rescue is run by dedicated staff and volunteers who give their time and resources to house, train, rehabilitate, and care for our animals. Above all else, we truly believe that Love Can Save Lives.
