Their adoption process

Fill out a Meet Your Match questionnaire, spend some time getting to know the pet you are considering taking home, and talk to an adoption counselor.
Each animal will leave the Center spayed or neutered, vaccinated, heartworm (dogs) or FeLV/FIV (cats) tested, de-wormed, treated for fleas/ticks, given heartworm preventative if applicable and microchipped.

Adoption steps

  1. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
    1. Take a tour of the shelter. See if there is anyone you are interested in. Come to the front desk and we will tell you all about them.
  2. Meet the Pet
    1. Pet the cats in the cat room, or meet the dogs you are interested in, in a meet and greet room.
  3. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. Fill out the paperwork at the front desk. We will go over all the paperwork and give you a copy of your pet's medical history.
  4. Take the Pet Home
    1. Take home your pet the same day!

As an open admission facility, the Center provides animal services and care for any animal in the city of Chattanooga regardless of age, breed, health, and temperament. McKamey has a number of thriving programs to benefit companion animals and people including adoption, foster, rescue, trap-neuter-return for feral cats, and humane education.
