My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Spud is a special (big) boy looking to find some new digs.
He is from a property with several other cats that were living outdoors, and has been having a hard time adjusting to the new living arrangements and day to day pace here with us.
Spud is a lounger, and is looking for a quiet home where he can decompress at his own pace.

He will do best indoor only due to his nervous nature, and likely would prefer to be the only pet in the home, however, may be okay with another cat.
We have started him on anxiety-reducing medication while in our care that he would go home with as well to help ease him into his new home.
Spud is easily won over with treats but is hesitant to trust and is not afraid to let you know when he doesn't want company.

If you are interested in adopting and have the space in your heart and home for this big boy, please fill out the application as the first step.
He is available for viewing at the branch, however, will likely not be receptive to visitors on day 1!

The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
