My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Have you been looking for a new feline bestie? Well, let me introduce you to Ruby!

Ruby is a lovely girl who, at two years old, has decided that her favourite thing is attention! She is very quick to start up a purr storm. Pets, cuddles, scratches, Ruby will take any and all of it without hesitation. The more the marrier in her not so humble opinion😊

Ruby enjoys spending her day with her people the most, but her favourite activities when she's alone are napping, and watching the world go by out the window without a worry in the world. You see, Ruby is really trying to enjoy all the great things life has to offer.

While Ruby absolutely loves the people in her life, she isn't too fond of other felines and would do best in a home with no other cats. This just means more love for her! Our girl also loves her food, who can blame her. She's just a girl💁‍♀️💅 Buuuuut because of this, and her drive to become an award winning foodie... we have had to limit her on her training by putting her on a light diet.

If you think Ruby could be the newest member of your family, hit the link below to submit a pre-adoption questionnaire, or stop by the centre during our open hours!

See our website at www.spca.bc.ca/PowellRiver for all of our current information.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
