My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dean & Duncan!

These two handsome tabby newcomers have just arrived, and they’re still deciding whether this whole “new human, new place” thing is a good idea. Their current resume skills include:
• Expert-level hiding
• Synchronized cautious blinking
• Being ridiculously adorable while pretending they are not
Dean is the “watch from afar” type, while Duncan is just a whisker braver. With a patient heart and slow, gentle introductions, both boys can blossom into sweet companions.
And the best part? They do not need to be adopted together!
If you’re excited about helping a shy kitty come out of their shell, here are 3 simple tips to set them up for success:

Start small — Give them one quiet room to settle into so they don’t feel overwhelmed.
Let them choose the pace — Sit nearby, talk softly, and let them come to you when they’re ready.
Use treats + playtime — A yummy treat or a wand toy can help build trust and show them you’re the fun human.

Think you can help a nervous sweetheart find their courage? Dean or Duncan can’t wait to meet you… from a comfy hiding spot at first.

Additional adoption info

We've got awesome dogs, cats and other critters waiting for new families to come and adopt! The adoption process begins online, and all adoptions are done by appointment only. To reduce the animals' overall stress levels, we have decided to limit animal viewing to those people with appointments for specific animals.

How it works:

1. Check out our available animals online. If you see an animal you’re interested in, fill out that species adoption questionnaire at https://www.everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-Pet to start the adoption process. Please be sure to include the name of the animal that you are interested in adopting. Questionnaires will only be reviewed if a specific animal is identified. You aren't obligated to adopt that pet, but it's a place to start.

2. Our staff will review your questionnaire and contact you to discuss the adoption. Please note that it often takes several days before you are contacted. We appreciate your patience! (If it has been longer than one week and you haven’t heard from us, please email us.)

3. Most animals will be available to go home the same day as the adoption meeting.

Adoptions by Appointment
Our shelter is currently closed for general animal viewing, but we’ve still got awesome dogs, cats and other critters waiting for new families to come and adopt them. To help keep our staff, volunteers and community healthy, we are now providing adoptions by appointment. This enables us to comply with social distancing guidelines while still finding loving homes for the pets in our care.
