My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Penny, a sweet soul with a heart as big as her smile! This fun-loving, outgoing girl is ready to find a family who will treat her like the queen she truly is. Penny dreams of a life filled with adventures!

Penny's personality shines bright. She's affectionate, loyal, and happiest when she's part of the action. Whether it's exploring new places or simply being your constant companion, she's all in. She seems to enjoy being social with other dogs, but we don't have any history of how she does with small animals like cats. Penny needs a home with a fenced yard, as she has been known to be a little bit of an escape artist at times!

A home environment may be new to Penny, so she'll need a little time, patience, and understanding as she settles into her new surroundings. With gentle guidance and consistency, she's sure to blossom into a devoted family companion. Watching her gain confidence and truly relax in her own home will be such a rewarding journey.

Right now, Penny is working on her "summer body" and shedding a little extra fluff - she's committed to feeling her best and would love a family who can help her stay active with regular walks, playtime, and plenty of encouragement (and maybe a few healthy treats along the way!).

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
