These two stunning black-cat beauties just arrived, and they’re still deciding if humans are friends, food suppliers, or suspicious giants. Their current superpowers include: • Melting into shadows like tiny feline ninjas • Giving big round “I’m not sure about this…” eyes • Being impossibly adorable while pretending you can’t see them Dylan is the cautious watcher, and Darci is just a whisker braver — but both girls are sweet souls waiting for the right person to help them feel safe. And great news: they do NOT need to be adopted together! If you’re hoping to help a shy kitty bloom, here are 3 simple tips:
Start small — A quiet room helps them settle without feeling overwhelmed. Let them choose the pace — Sit near them, speak softly, and let them come to you. Snacks + playtime — Treats and wand toys build confidence (and win hearts).
Think you’re ready to help a shy black-cat beauty shine? Darci or Dylan might be your perfect match — even if they introduce themselves from their favorite hiding spot first.

We've got awesome dogs, cats and other critters waiting for new families to come and adopt! The adoption process begins online, and all adoptions are done by appointment only. To reduce the animals' overall stress levels, we have decided to limit animal viewing to those people with appointments for specific animals.
How it works:
1. Check out our available animals online. If you see an animal you’re interested in, fill out that species adoption questionnaire at https://www.everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-Pet to start the adoption process. Please be sure to include the name of the animal that you are interested in adopting. Questionnaires will only be reviewed if a specific animal is identified. You aren't obligated to adopt that pet, but it's a place to start.
2. Our staff will review your questionnaire and contact you to discuss the adoption. Please note that it often takes several days before you are contacted. We appreciate your patience! (If it has been longer than one week and you haven’t heard from us, please email us.)
3. Most animals will be available to go home the same day as the adoption meeting.
ADOPTION FEES - CATS
- Cats (over 6 months): $50 - $100
- Kittens (6 months and under): $150 - $300
- Two kittens adopted at the same time: $250 - $300
Adoption Fees for cats and dogs include:
Spaying / neutering
Microchip
First set of vaccines
Deworming
Flea treatment
Martingale collar and slip lead for dogs
Collar and cardboard carrier for cats
SMALL ANIMALS & BIRDS
- Adoption fees vary based on species

Adoptions by Appointment
Our shelter is currently closed for general animal viewing, but we’ve still got awesome dogs, cats and other critters waiting for new families to come and adopt them. To help keep our staff, volunteers and community healthy, we are now providing adoptions by appointment. This enables us to comply with social distancing guidelines while still finding loving homes for the pets in our care.
