Meet Everlayne: Bringer of Zoomies, Conqueror of Squeaky Toys. Much like her namesake from Quicksilver, Everlayne is a heroine of great passion, dramatic flair, and just a touch of chaos. This adult mixed-breed queen has two modes: sweet, soulful-eyed cuddle sprite and full-throttle, wind-in-her-fur, main-character-energy action star. There is no in-between. Everlayne loves with her whole heart. Once you’re in her inner circle, you’re in. Expect loyal sidekick energy, enthusiastic face kisses, and a constant companion for every quest (including trips to the fridge). She can be a little nervous meeting new people at first—our brave heroine prefers a proper introduction before pledging allegiance. Give her a moment to assess the situation, maybe offer a small treat tribute, and she’ll warm up beautifully. Beneath that initial caution is a deeply sweet, sensitive girl who bonds hard and loves big. On leash, Everlayne believes she is leading a royal procession at top speed. She’s strong, enthusiastic, and absolutely convinced that adventure awaits immediately. She’s currently perfecting her interpretive leash-dancing routine, but with patience, consistency, and some heroic training sessions, she’s more than capable of becoming a refined walking companion. Toys are her sworn enemies and greatest joy. Squeaky toys in particular stand no chance. She will chase them, conquer them, and proudly parade her victory. Treats are equally treasured—soft, crunchy, mysterious, she accepts all offerings with gratitude and enthusiasm. When it comes to dogs, Everlayne would do best with a respectful and tolerant dog friend. She can be a bit reactive at times, so apartment living likely will not work for her. She is unknown with cats and children, but she will likely do ok with sturdy children who understand boundaries. The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society was founded in 1926 and incorporated in 1949. The Humane Society has a publicly-tendered contract with the City of Windsor to provide animal control and basic shelter services in the City. This is only a portion of the work done by our organization. In 2016 almost 12,000 animal came through the doors of our shelter and spay/neuter clinic. We can’t help them without your support.
