My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mabel is a gentle and loving cat with a sweet personality. She enjoys quiet company, soft pets, and gentle talking. Her striking white and orange fur and her two mismatched eyes make her unforgettable. She’s as unique as she is affectionate. Mabel is very playful and especially loves a plastic toy ball, often batting it around with endless enthusiasm. She’s also a huge lap cat and will happily sit on your lap for as long as you will allow, soaking up every bit of attention and affection. She has learned when the shelter is wrapping up for the day and will dig at the door and meow until someone comes in to comfort her. She just can’t wait to be in a home where she can feel loved all day and night.

If you're looking for a calm, friendly companion who loves attention, Mabel is ready to be your new best friend. To meet Mabel please fill out an application at abandonedpetrescue.org!

Mabel is vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and ready for adoption at Abandoned Pet Rescue - a no-kill shelter in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

More about this shelter

Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida with the mission of rescuing and sheltering abandoned and abused cats and dogs with the goal of finding them new homes. APR's adoption center has about 150 cats and 30 dogs, all of which receive nutritious meals, veterinary care, enrichment and love.

APR, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers who were trapping, spaying and neutering feral cats and quickly realized the greater need to help abandoned pets and advocate for a no-kill community. APR is funded solely by generous donors and grants.
